In my case, I had to install unstable version and the following command

roslaunch openni_camera openni_kinect.launch

worked perfectly

In my case, I had to install unstable version and the following ~~command~~command [this was on cturtle about 2 months ago] its better to use stable versions than unstable.

roslaunch openni_camera openni_kinect.launch

worked perfectly
