Yes, it is OK to use older books, most of the concepts are similar. Moreover, you're likely not going to find a book specifically working w Kame for quite some time. Simply because this is open source software, ROS has a new release every year and there's not too many authors who have the time to churn out books.
There's a ROS books wiki page though, that keeps a (hopefully updated) list of books. Personally, I like #1 and #2 that I've mentioned in my answer to this question.
