While going through the pr2_kinematics tutorials, I came across this problem:

[ERROR] [1397430137.702585947]: Forward kinematics service call failed

Now i am unable to even launch the navigation stack.

WARN] [1397432550.180089299, 17.461000000]: The root link base_footprint has an inertia specified in the URDF, but KDL does not support a root link with an inertia. As a workaround, you can add an extra dummy link to your URDF.

I followed the instructions but presume that I have missed some portion. Does anyone have an idea?

I am using groovy and ubuntu 12.04.

I'm not sure I understand; were you able to launch the navigation stack before starting the pr2_kinematics tutorials? Which launch files are you running? Are you on a real PR2 or the simulator?
