Outdoors depth Cameras
Hi all
I would like to ask for some opinion regarding outdoor depth Cameras. I was searching for some depth cameras such as The Intel® RealSense™ Depth Camera D400-Series, Stereolabs ZED Camera, ASUS® XtionPro™ Live. So the main technologies are: Structured light, Stereo with pattern projector/Embedded stereo,Time of flight. I would like to know which camera and technology is most suitable for outdoor object detection ( long distance up to 20m), tracking , motion planning /path planning applications. Possible to work also by strong sunlight . It is for constitutions applications, so very dynamic non structured outdoor environments such as construction field . Also which ones is most compatible with ROS and ROS drivers. Any help?
I'm not sure (and my information may be outdated), but I typically see ppl use lidars/laserscanners for these kind of environments. Depth cameras have difficulties with these requirements (20m, sunlight, etc). Lidars are not perfect, but seem to handle these better (and 20m is nothing for a laser).
what about other cameras that can handle such kind of environments? Any other types of Cameras suitable for such application?
I wouldn't be able to provide you with any advice. I'm not into cameras at all. Let's wait for some other board members to post.
Wouldn't stereo cameras be well suited for outside conditions ?
Bumblebee or Zed stereo camera ?
Localization can be done accurately vai GPS + IMU + Barometer combination .
