What do you want to use the sensor for? If I remember correctly, the realsense d435 devices have a limited effective range.

I only had good results with the Realsense (indoor only), even on Pi3b. Didnt hear anything bad about them from other developers. It also has good backing from intel, and they realy go for the automation/robotics market, lots of others came and went, and the kinect was more of a hack to me, never really ment to be a professional sensor. Also there are realsense (sensors), to be implemented into your own housings/hardware. Might also be interessting to look at intels realsense lidar_camera l515(new technology, but dont know the pros and cons in practical application). Stereocameras I would suggest for outdoor use.
