One Mesh for multiple links with joints

Hi,

I'm wondering if it is possible to set up several links with one mesh. Between those links, there are joints to combine them.

To be more specific, I'm trying to build a tower crane with the mesh from here. But I would like to have the column and the arm as two separate links, connected with a rotation joint. Is that even possible in urdf?

Thanks!

You can use a mesh editor like meshlab or even Fusion360 to slice your mesh in two parts and then export each one. After that assign each mesh to each link

Thanks for you help. A follow up, is there any way to model the rope in this case? Thanks!

You can but it won't adapt it's length to the position of the hook, if you move it.
