Camera Models For Hector Slam ?

Hi . i am beginner for ros .my system is 14.04 and indigo ros.

i want to work on Hector Slam . But i don't know that i will use which model camera ?

i have a4tech PK635k webcam but probably it is necessery for Hector Slam. How can i learn camera models for hector slam ? thanks.

And may you help me on mail. ?

I think hector_slam requires a lidar scanner; not a camera.

EDIT

A quick google search for "hector slam asus" turns up this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGUzG... and http://daikimaekawa.github.io/ros/201... which strongly suggests that hector slam should work with an asus depth sensor.

hector_slam uses LIDAR data for SLAM. One can emulate LIDAR data with a RGB-D or stereo camera, but the results will be inferior to those with a proper LIDAR as the field of view is much smaller and noise much higher. See also this Q/A. Interestingly, the results presented here however look quite nice.
