Movit unable to generate configuration files

I am trying to generate configuration files for a urdf using the Movit Setup Assistant. However, I keep receiving an error after clicking Generate Package:

The chosen package location already exists but was not previously created using this MoveIt! Setup Assistant. If this is a mistake, add the missing file: /home/user/catkin_ws/.setup_assistant

This persists even if I change the location to anywhere else. I am unable to find any info on this error online... Am I missing something simple?
