Can I use ROS for free for commercial purposes?

I am developing a software for commercial purposes and came across ROS and am considering using it to control my UR3e Cobot. I, however, was concerned about the license issues. Would it be possible to use ROS for free or would a license need to be purchased somewhere.

The core packages of ROS1 are licensed under BSD, which is highly permissive and suitable for commercial use. ROS2 core packages uses Apache which is similarly permissive. However for non-core packages you should note the specific license used by its creator. GPL or LGPL in particular sometimes appear in the community and those require more care.
